About us

About
Venetiana pool area and the sea view apartments overlook the bay of Tersanas. Venetiana is a distinct complex, with its tiled side and generously sized uniquely shaped pool. Visitors may find that the other guests have gone out for the day to the to one of the local beaches or site seeing and enjoy the pool virtually to themselves. Some of our guests enjoy a day of relaxing around the pool or simply for a start or close of the day refreshing swim.

Accommodation
There are only eight twin or double bedroom apartments in total. Each apartment has both a downstairs and upstairs balcony. All apartments are fitted with an air-conditioning unit in the bedrooms. Used properly these will keep the whole apartment cool even on the hottest of days. Fans are available for those who do not like air-conditioning.

The Gardens
With a maximum of 16 guests it is a quiet and restful venue. Four of the apartments have a sea view and four are facing the delightful and beautifully kept gardens. Visitors staying in the garden apartments will find themselves stepping out into gardens with not only a wide variety of flowers but fruit and olive trees. Depending on the time of year you can see lemons dripping of the two lemon trees and pomegranates waiting to be eaten. The garden apartments are sunny in the mornings and in shade in the afternoons. Visitors may find fruit appearing on their balcony tables as Yannis does his morning rounds or spending time tending the gardens. Yannis is more than happy to spend time talking about his beautiful gardens.

The Apartments
The four sea view apartments also have small gardens to the step out into but they have the view of Tersanas bay from both ground and first floor balconies. These apartments are in the shade in the mornings but are in full sun in the afternoon and evening. Each apartment consists of an upstairs bedroom, twin or double, accessed by a spiral staircase. (Unfortunately this does mean Venetiana is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties or for children.) The bathroom and dining area and a kitchenette are downstairs. There are tables and chairs on both balconies.

Car parking
Venetiana has off road parking for most cars. In the height of the summer some may have to park on the road, but this is a quiet and safe road. You will note that beautiful landscaping also surrounds the car park. Visitors will note the many pieces of Yannis’ artwork around the site. These include double V logo, in the car park and the gates. Have a wonder and see what how many others you can find such as those shown.

Things to do and see

Visitors will find that a stay at Venetiana is very restful, with the peace and quiet. However there are many things to do and see in Western Crete and getting off the Akrotiri is simple. You can drive through Kounoupidiana to Chania or Souda. During busy times it can take up to forty- five minutes to get into Chania. Don’t forget to visit the monasteries on the Akrotiri.
Those wishing to spend time on the beach have a choice on the Akrotiri. There are sandy beaches at: Kalathas, Tersanas, Stavros and Marathi. Beach lovers may wish to explore those further away by travelling either east or west or Chania. Eating out is not only a part of holiday time it is part of life here. The fresh locally grown produce makes eating out a treat for your taste buds as well as being very healthy. The Cretan diet is one of the healthiest due to the fresh produce and olive oil. Try out one of the local tavernas or restaurants on the Akrotiri or venture into Chania for a wide selection of both harbour front and back street places.
